Morrisville women drop SUNYAC opener to Plattsburgh

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville women's soccer opened State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 loss to visiting Plattsburgh State on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's soccer continues to look for their first win of the season, falling in the SUNYAC opener to visiting Plattsburgh State by a 5-0 final score Saturday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Plattsburgh jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the opening half, scoring their first in the 16th minute on the rebound after the initial save by Kayle Roberts (Deansboro, N.Y.).
  • The Cardinals added a second at 23:47, chipping in the corner kick inside the right post.
  • Plattsburgh added a third of the half in the 37th minute with a strike from the top of the box.
  • Morrisville's best offensive chance of the first came in the 44th minute when Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) lined up a shot from the top right of the box towards the bottom center of the net, but Lauren Hanley picked p the ball to keep the hosts scoreless.
  • Plattsburgh added two more tallies to their halftime lead, registering a goal in the 59th minute, before capping off the night with a second from Allison Brown in the 74th, earning the league win.
  • Haley posted the win in net for Plattsburgh, registering one save, before being replaced by Lily Bailey for the second half.
  • Bailey had one save.
  • Roberts had nine total stops in the loss for Morrisville in net.
