Hamilton gets by Morrisville net for match win

CLINTON, N.Y. – Host Hamilton College women's volleyball edged visiting SUNY Morrisville Saturday afternoon in the tournament finale, collecting a 3-1 match win over the Mustangs in Clinton.

  • Final Score: Morrisville 1, Hamilton 3 (17-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-25)
  • Location: Margaret Bundy Scott Field House, Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y.
  • Records: Morrisville 5-4, Hamilton 3-4
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host Hamilton College edged visiting SUNY Morrisville in match play Saturday evening, collecting a 3-1 match win as they out gained the Mustangs in hitting 56 kills to 39.
  • Despite a terrific defensive effort at the net, Morrisville's hitting game struggled as they recorded a .158 hitting effort to the Continentals .211 on the day.
  • Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) recorded 18 kills to lead the Mustang efforts, also serving up two aces and adding two assisted blocks at the net.
  • Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added nine alongside seven from freshman Samantha Siedlecki (Thornton, Colo.).
  • Siedlecki added five total blocks at the net, four solo, while Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) posted four and Autumn Dailey (Smyrna, N.Y.) four as well.
  • Bellmore also had 23 assists.
  • Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) led the defensive specialists with 20 digs.
  • Hamilton jumped out to a one-set lead after the first over the Mustangs, who then battled back in the second for the 25-16 set win.
  • The hosts, though, edged Morrisville 25-23 in the third for the match lead, before putting the game away in the fourth set with a 25-15 win.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will return to tournament action next Friday as they head to Oswego for the Laker Invitational, meeting Brockport at 5 p.m. in Oswego.
