MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville head men's soccer coach Corey Fonseca announced the addition of Zach Schlachter and Gordy Gurson as assistants for the upcoming 2024 season.
 
Schlachter comes to Morrisville after serving in an assistant role with Cazenovia College for a year, and was on staff with Fonseca at Fayetteville-Manlius High School as varsity assistant coach in 2023.
 
Joining Soccer Shots in April 2022 as assistant director responsible for the day to day operations of the youth soccer program, Schlachter was elevated to the Director of Coaching role in January 2023, overseeing scheduling alongside training for the program.
 
A graduate Cazenovia College, Schlachter was a first team All-Region honoree in 2018 for the Onondaga Community College Lazers, before serving as team captain and earning NAC All-Tournament accolades with Cazenovia College in 2021.
 
Gurson joins the Mustang staff after serving two seasons as an assistant coach for the Governors State women's soccer team. Additionally, the native of Buffalo Grove has served as the general manager for the Iowa Raptors FC of the Major Arena Soccer League 2.
 
Gurson played for the University of Memphis before completing his playing career at Robert Morris University where he was a three-time All-America selection from 2011-13, while earning a degree in applied health sciences.
 
He continued his playing career in the pro indoor scene in the Major Arena Soccer League, where he compiled 220 goals and 115 assists across seven teams.
 
During his time in the MASL, Gurson was named Rookie of the Year in 2015, played in three World Minifootball Federation World Cups as a member of the National Arena Soccer Team for the United States. His teams were indoor World Cup Champions in 2015 and MASL Champions in 2021.

Morrisville opens the 2024 season Friday, hosting Keuka College on the Mustangs home Drake Field at 4 p.m.
