Dohn's career high leads Morrisville men to dominating win

BANGOR, ME – SUNY Morrisville freshman attackman Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) posted a collegiate best performance Sunday afternoon to lead visiting men's lacrosse to a dominating 18-4 win over host Husson University in Bangor.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse picked up a dominating 18-4 win over host Husson University Sunday afternoon, as freshman attackman Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) buried a collegiate high five goals and assisted another three to lead the Mustangs in the league victory.
  • Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added five points behind four scores and an assist in the win, collecting seven ground balls as well, while teammate Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) assisted four to go along with a goal.
  • Six additional Mustangs contributed to the win on the day, two goals apiece coming off the sticks of Chris Stancarone (Levittown, N.Y.) and Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.).
  • Michael Avgenikos (Cazenovia, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 14 wins at the center x, collecting 12 ground balls, getting assistance from defenseman Daniel Squire (Aquebogue, N.Y.) with four grounders to go along with two caused turnovers.
  • Griffin English (Big Flats, N.Y.) caused three turnovers to lead the Mustang defense that forced 14 across the match.
  • Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate win in net, turning aside three.
  • Morrisville set the tone quick with their first of a 10-goal run a mere 16 seconds in the game off an unassisted tally by Mohammed.
  • Within minutes, the sophomore added a second before Stancarone collected one at the 10:29 mark to put the visitors ahead 3-0.
  • Three seconds later, Dohn posted his first of the day off the dish from Nestor before adding his 10th of the season at 8:37 to extend the Mustangs lead to five.
  • Patriarco and James Graizzaro (Hillside, N.J.) each posted one before Mohammed collected the hat trick burying the feed from Nestor to round out the first quarter with an 8-0 Morrisville lead.
  • Nestor and Patriarco each added one midway through the second before Husson was able to get on the board, but Dohn quickly regained the double-digit lead as he added the hat trick tally off the lead from Nestor.
  • A second by Stancarone gave the Mustangs the 12-2 lead at the break.
  • In the third, Morrisville outgained the hosts 3-1 with scores coming from Cade Moss (New Hartford, N.Y.) and one each from Dohn and Mohammed, before the Mustangs closed out the fourth with the win.
  • Dohn collected his fifth of the game at the 8:20 mark of the fourth, before John Carter (Kirkville, N.Y.) added one for the visitors, and Brian Kelly (Tully, N.Y.) another to close out the weekend.

  • Morrisville will return to the field next Saturday as they head to SUNY Poly for a huge league match against the crosstown rival Wildcats.
