Morrisville men drop road battle at Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team fell in non-conference action Saturday afternoon as host Potsdam collected the 19-4 win in Potsdam.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse had four net one goal apiece as they fell in non-conference action to host Potsdam on the road in Potsdam Saturday afternoon by a 19-4 final score.
  • Morrisville's James Graizzaro (Hillside, N.J.) posted the contests first goal, an extra man tally with 4:22 to go in the first.
  • John Carter (Kirkville, N.Y.) registered the assist.
  • Potsdam, though, would then rattle off 13 straight goals through the middle of the third before Morrisville would find the back of the net again, a second extra man tally from senior Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.).
  • Nestor connected with Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) moments later for a third Mustang tally after three quarters of play.
  • Curtis Robitaille (Endwell, N.Y.) added a final strike off the dish from Nestor, early in the fourth, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as Potsdam added another five to close out the contest with the win.
  • Daniel Squires (Aquebogue, N.Y.) and Justin Smith (East Syracuse, N.Y.) led the Mustangs efforts on the defensive end of the field, combining for 12 ground ball pick ups, while Smith added two caused turnovers.
  • Gabe Mathews (Sharon, Conn.) recorded five saves in the loss between the pipes, before being replaced by Nathan Weise (Rochester, N.Y.) for the second half.
  • Weise turned aside six for the Mustangs.

  • Morrisville returns to the field Wednesday, hosting Marywood University at 5 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
