Morrisville women skate past Buffalo State 4-1 in SUNYAC win

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Four different players scored a goal Friday afternoon as host SUNY Morrisville women's hockey skated past visiting Buffalo State College 4-1 in SUNYAC action on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host Morrisville women's hockey scored twice in the opening period and added one each across the remaining frames as they handed Buffalo State a 4-1 defeat on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville Friday afternoon.
  • Four different players scored goals for the Mustangs, including Kennedy Kirkby (Prescott, Ont.) who collected the first of the day 5:56 in after taking away the puck in front of the crease.
  • Kirky's backhanded score was followed by Kendal Kalinowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) who added to the Mustangs total 12:51 in.
  • Avery Holland (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) earned the assists on the goal.
  • Three minutes into the second, Meadow Clarke (Middlesackville, N.S.) shot the rifle from the center blue after receiving the puck from Madison Tomkins (Windsor, Ont.) and Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.), and earned the score after the puck bounced off the Bengal goaltender into the back of the net for the 3-0 Mustang lead.
  • Midway through the final frame, Buffalo State put their lone tally of the contest on the board with the one-timer that was fed from behind the net, but within minutes, Morrisville again broadened the gap to three.
  • Davidson carried the puck into the offensive zone, juked the defense and sent the wrister over the shoulder of the netminder for the goal.
  • Holland earned her second assist of the night on the tally.
  • Elizabeth Timby (Getzville, N.Y.) earned the win in net behind her 30 save game across three periods, 15 in the second.
  • Morrisville held the 35-22 advantage on the face-off, with Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.) winning 11 faceoffs.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville returns to the ice tomorrow, wrapping up the SUNYAC series with the Bengals in a 3 p.m. match on the Mustangs home ice. Prior to the contest, they will be honoring the Class of 2024.
