WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's hockey scored twice in the second period and held off the host SUNY Potsdam Bears, as the Mustangs collected the 2-0 shut out in SUNYAC action Friday afternoon in Potsdam.
  • After a scoreless opening period, Morrisville got their first tally 4:22 into the second period as Kennedy Kirkby (Prescott, Ont.) cleaned up the loose puck for the 1-0 visitor lead.
  • Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Tilly Couture (Bedford, N.S.) were credited with the assists after McDonald had the initial shot on goal.
  • A Potsdam penalty with just under four to go in the period gave the Mustangs the power play and just over a minute later, McDonald put away the power play score with the one-timer as Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and Meadow Clarke (Middlesackville, N.S.) collected the assists.
  • Seeing just six shots in the second, Potsdam rallied in the third to pressure the Mustang net, but Maggie Jones (Marystown, N.L.) secured the win with a 10 save period, posting 28 total across the contest, to earn the shutout victory.
  • Morrisville held the slim 29-28 advantage in shots on the day, and edged Potsdam 38-24 in the faceoff circle with 13 wins apiece coming from McDonald and Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.).
