  • Team Scores: Morrisville 3, Canton 4 - OT
  • Location: Morrisville IcePlex, Morrisville, N.Y.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's hockey closed out the first semester action Saturday night with a league battle with visiting SUNY Canton.
  • After a scoreless first period that saw both teams skate back-and-forth, Canton was able to put the first tally on the board for the night just 20 seconds in, capitalizing on the Mustangs turnover within the Roos offensive zone.
  • Morrisville's Ryan Glazer (Montreal, Que.) evened the score for the Mustangs with 51.6 seconds to go in the period, slapping in the chip from Max Maziarchuk (Staten Island, N.Y.) off the face-off win, to send the teddy bears flying over the glass on Teddy Bear Toss night, and send the game into the third tied at one.
  • Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) collected his third goal of the season at the 7:06 mark to give the hosts their first lead of the night, with Glazier and Maziarchuk picking up the assists.
  • Within minutes Myles Douglas (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) extended the lead to two for Morrisville with his unassisted tally, intercepting the Canton pass to put the puck away over the shoulder of the Roo goaltender.
  • Morrisville held the 3-1 lead until late in the third period when Canton pulled netminder Nate Hopkins with 3:48 remaining for the extra skater.
  • Canton was able to cut the lead to one at 18:51 with the extra attacker score, and 40 seconds later evened the game at three goals apiece with their second six-skater tally to force the overtime period.
  • Playing three-on-three with the open ice, both teams exchanged opportunities to put a winner in the back of the net, and with one-minute remaining Canton broke through with the game winner by Jackson Drysdale for the 4-3 sudden victory.
  • Hopkins finished with 27 saves in the win for the Roos.
  • Will Goumas (Brampton, Ont.) recorded the loss for the Mustangs in net, despite a 35 save effort across 64 minutes of action.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville will return to the ice in January, traveling to Post University on the 3rd for a 4 p.m. non-conference bout.
