Maziarchuk nets game winner, Linville adds shut out in 2-0 win over Post

SHELTON, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team resumed the season schedule Friday afternoon on the road at Post University, coming away with a 2-0 shut out victory in Shelton, Connecticut.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey resumed the season slate with a 2-0 victory on the road at Post University Friday afternoon.
  • Maxim Maziarchuk (Staten Island, N.Y.) registered the game's first score late in the first period, a power play goal at the 13:43 mark, to give the Mustangs the 1-0 lead.
  • Ryan Glazer (Montreal, Que.) and Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) were credited with the assists following the initial shot attempt that Maziarchuk was able to collect, finding his way to the right side of the zone for the wrister over the pads of Post netminder Benjamin Cunneen.
  • Morrisville netted their second tally just 38 ticks in for the 2-0 advantage, a backhanded deflection by Zembrzycki in front of Cunneen.
  • Logan Robins (Livonia, Mich.) collected the puck off the face-off win in the Mustangs offensive zone, before finding Connor Carlile (Southlake, Tex.) at the blue for the initial snipe that was deflected by the freshmen in front to expand the Morrisville lead early in the second frame.
  • Post attempted to get one past the Mustang defense, but Morrisville goaltender Grant Linville (Edmond, Okla.) collected seven of his game total 19 stops in the period to keep the hosts off the board.
  • Linville added another seven in the third to secure the shut out victory for Morrisville.
  • Cunneen had 33 saves as Morrisville held the 35-17 advantage in shots on goal on the day.
