Holland nets first collegiate goal in loss at #6 Plattsburgh

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Avery Holland (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal Friday night in front of her hometown crowd, but the Mustangs fell behind and were unable to recover as no. 6 ranked Plattsburgh State collected the 5-1 in in Plattsburgh.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's hockey dropped a 5-1 decision to no. 6 USCHO ranked Plattsburgh Friday night, falling to 2-2-0 overall in SUNYAC play.
  • After falling behind 2-0 midway through the opening period, sophomore Avery Holland (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) collected her first collegiate score in front of her hometown crowd, cutting the deficit to one, but the Mustangs were unable to draw any closer as the Cardinals skated to a 5-1 league victory.
  • Sara Lutz (Parker, Colo.) and Kate Mabey (Guelph, Ont.) recorded the assists for Hollands tally, that came at the 14:01 mark of the first period.
  • Plattsburgh led 3-1 after the first, before adding one each in the second and third periods, with the final tally coming on the power play late in the third.
  • Elizabeth Timby (Getzville, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net for Morrisville, turning aside a game total 29, including 14 in the second period of action.
  • Chloe Lewis collected the win with seven stops for Plattsburgh in 34 minutes of action, before Maddy Stetson finished out the remainder 26 with two saves.

  • Morrisville will wrap up first semester action Sunday as they host Williams College on the Mustangs home ice at 3 p.m.
