MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville hunt seat equestrian team hosted their first show of the young 2024 season Saturday morning, tying for third place overall in team standings while having three riders take home the blue ribbon in the IHSA Competition at the Fearon Road arena.

• Team Scores: RPI 36, Colgate 32, Morrisville 31, Cobleskill 31, Siena 30, Skidmore 28, Oneonta 17, Albany 15, Hamilton 14

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Host SUNY Morrisville hunt seat equestrian hosted their first IHSA competition Saturday of the young 2024 season, compiling a team total 31 points to earn a third place overall among nine competing teams.
• Morrisville had three riders earn the top slot in their show class, taking home the blue-ribbon win, including Lauren McCarthy (Weedsport, N.Y.) who topped the field in the open equitation class.
• McCarthy's second place finish in the intermediate fences class, earned her high point rider honors for the show.
• Other top winners for the Mustangs included Hannah Gill (Liberty, N.Y.) in the pre-novice class and Jacob Lyons (Fort Edward, N.Y.) in the introductory class.
• The following were the results of the individual classes for the Mustangs:
  • Lauren McCarthy (Weedsport, N.Y.) – 1^st open equitation, 2^nd intermediate fences
  • Sarah Wood (DeRuyter, N.Y.) – 6^th open equitation, 5^th reining
  • Molly Martin-Bauer (Victor, N.Y.) – 5^th intermediate fences; 3^rd limit equitation
  • Kara Teal (Poestenkill, N.Y.) – 2^nd limit fences; 3^rd limit equitation
  • Mia Kaplan (Ridgewood, N.J.) – 5^th limit fences; 4^th intermediate equitation
  • Kayla Sheeley (Tivoli, N.Y.) – 3^rd limit fences; 2^nd limit equitation
  • Emma Petricca (Blasdell, N.Y.) – 5^th intermediate equitation
  • Emily McClean (Macedon, N.Y.) – 4^th novice equitation
  • Savannah Liddy (Horseheads, N.Y.) – 4^th novice equitation 
  • Abigail Zajesky (Greenwich, N.Y.) – 3^rd pre-novice equitation
  • Hannah Gill (Liberty, N.Y.) – 1^st pre-novice equitation
  • Julia Hathaway (Cazenovia, N.Y.)  – 4^th pre-novice equitation
