Morrisville men wrap up weekend with loss to Neumann

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville men's hockey dropped to 1-8-0 overall Saturday, wrapping up the Thanksgiving weekend with a 5-2 loss to visiting Neumann University on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Neumann University men's hockey scored twice in the second and third periods Saturday afternoon, topping host SUNY Morrisville by a 5-2 final score on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville.
  • The Knights put the first tally on the board 12:03 into the first period, but Morrisville quickly responded with their first of the day as Jensen Dodge (West Lebanon, N.H.) deflected the puck past Neumann netminder Matt Perdue, evening the contest at one.
  • Caden Sutter (Chippewa Falls, Wisc.) picked up the assist on the score.
  • Less than 30 seconds into the second period, Neumann took the 2-1 lead, and added a short handed score midway through to increase the advantage to two,
  • A power play score at the 13:03 mark extended the lead to 4-1 for Neumann in the third, before Morrisville responded 52 seconds later with a power play tally of their own.
  • Will Jones (Corbeil, Ont.) notched his third goal of the season for the Mustangs, with Sutter and Ryan Glazer (Montreal, Que.) collecting the assists.
  • Neumann capped off the scoring for the evening with an empty net goal, that also was a short-handed tally, with 22.4 seconds remaining as they cleared the puck from the Mustangs offensive zone, securing the 5-2 non-conference win.
  • Perdue earned the win in net with 21 saves.
  • Will Goumas (Brampton, Ont.) had a 36 save effort in the loss in net for Morrisville, turning away 14 apiece in the first and second periods of play.
