Third period gets away from Mustangs in loss to Hamilton

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Hamilton College women's hockey scored three in the third period to pull away from host SUNY Morrisville Tuesday afternoon, as the Mustangs fell 5-1 in non-conference action on their home ice in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Hamilton College Continentals scored three goals in the third period of Tuesday's non-conference match, pulling away from host SUNY Morrisville women's hockey to earn the 5-1 victory on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville.
  • Hamilton's first goal of the afternoon came midway through the first period of play, as Cuora Sullivan put the puck over the shoulder of screened Mustang netminder J'Anne Colbow (Weyburn, Sask.) for the 1-0 lead.
  • The Continentals added another to their total 19 minutes later at the 9:24 mark of the second when Lilly Truchon poked in the loose puck on the crease for the two goal lead.
  • Hamilton was able to collect a third just 1:28 into the third period with an unassisted tally, before Morrisville's Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) slapped in her own rebound on the left post to put the Mustangs on the board and cut the deficit to two.
  • Within minutes though, Hamilton regained the three-goal advantage with their fourth of the afternoon at 9:17 before putting the game out of reach with a final strike at 15:51.
  • Colbow recorded 22 saves in the loss in net, appearing for just under 30 minutes of play, before being replaced by Elizabeth Timby (Getzville, N.Y.) for the final 31.
  • Timby had 13 stops in net in the efforts for Morrisville.
  • Evie Sheridan recorded the win with 13 saves on the day.

  • Morrisville drops to 5-2-0 overall to date on the season and will return to the ice next Friday as they travel to no. 6 USCHO ranked Plattsburgh on December 6.
