Morrisville falls in overtime on the road

HERSHEY PARK, PA. – The SUNY Morrisville men's hockey team wrapped up opening weekend Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 overtime loss to host Lebanon Valley College at Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, Pa.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to host Lebanon Valley College Saturday afternoon in overtime at the Hersheypark Arena, falling to 0-2-0 as they wrap up the opening weekend of the season.
  • Playing to a scoreless opening period, Lebanon Valley took the 1-0 lead 17 seconds into the second period and maintained the lead until the final minute of the frame.
  • Ethan Henry (Buffalo, N.Y.) got the deflection on the dish from Noah Patrick (Barrie, Ont.) to even the contest at one at the 19:01 mark of the second.
  • Early in the third, Wyatt Allan (Capistrano Beach, Calif.) posted his first of the season from the point for the 2-1 Mustang advantage 4:46 into the third.
  • Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) and Myles Douglas (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) were credited with the assists.
  • The advantage held until midway through the final period when Lebanon Valley evened the score on a power play tally, later forcing the extra frame as both teams were unable to put one away.
  • In the overtime period, Lebanon Valley's Ethan Hoover collected the puck and posted the game winner, 55 seconds in, as the Flying Dutchmen picked up the non-conference win.
  • Will Goumas (Brampton, Ont.) recorded 45 saves in the loss in net for the Mustangs, 17 in the second frame.
  • Jadon Lee had 23 stops in the win, turning aside 12 in the second.

  • Morrisville returns to the ice next Friday, traveling to Worcester State University for a 5 p.m. faceoff.
