Freshmen net four goals in road win for Morrisville men

WORCESTER, MASS. – Freshman Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) scored twice Friday night and Ryan Glazer (Montreal, Que.) collected three assists to lead the visiting SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team to a convincing 6-2 win on the road at Worcester State University in Massachusetts.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's hockey netted their first win of the young 2024 season Friday evening, netting three goals in the second period en route to a 6-2 win over host Worcester State in Worcester, Mass.
  • Freshman Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) netted a pair of scores for the Mustangs, including his first collegiate tally in the second period, to lead Morrisville in the win.
  • Four additional teammates also posted goals for Morrisville, with another six picking up assists across the evening.
  • Will Goumas (Brampton, Ont.) picked up his first collegiate win with 29 stops on the night, including 15 in the second period.
  • Logan James (Belleville, Ont.) was the first to put numbers up on the board for Morrisville, burying the chip from Fisher Moore (Cadillac, Mich.) for the 1-0 visitor lead at the 10:13 mark of the first.
  • Worcester State evened the contest at one midway through the second but 14 seconds later Morrisville regained the lead with Zembrzycki's tally, sparking a three-goal flurry.
  • Jensen Dodge (West Lebanon, N.H.) and Ryan Glazer (Montreal, Que.) were credited with the assists.
  • Three minutes later, Morrisville struck again, this time on the stick of Evan Fraccaro (Newmarket, Ont.) who also collected his first collegiate tally as assisted by Zach Nicholls (Chestermere, Alta.).
  • A final period tally from Ethan Henry (Buffalo, N.Y.) at 18:41 put the Mustangs ahead 4-1 after two periods, with Glazer picking up his second assist of the night.
  • The Lancers got one back midway through the third, cutting the lead to two, but that was short lived as Zembrzycki added his second of the night less than a minute later, before Nicholls followed with one of his own to cap off the visitor scoring.
  • Dodge and Glazer picked up assists as a pair for a second time with Zembrzycki's score, Glazer's third overall in the contest.
  • Maxim Maziarchuk (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Noah Patrick (Barrie, Ont.) earned the assists on Nicholls score.
  • Morrisville outshot the Lancers 43-31.
