Noyes nets overtime winner as Mustangs down Keuka 4-3

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville field hockey team picked up a sudden overtime victory Tuesday afternoon on the road at Keuka College as Kylee Noyes (Castle Creek, N.Y.) blasted the game winner into the boards on a penalty corner play in extra time for the 4-3 non-league win in Keuka Park.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville field hockey scored 3:46 into the sudden victory overtime period to collect a thrilling 4-3 non-league win over host Keuka College Tuesday afternoon in Keuka Park.
  • The win comes on the blast from the top left of the circle on a penalty corner play from freshman Kylee Noyes (Castle Creek, N.Y.) after receiving the insert from Melissa Beaver (Granville, N.Y.) in the 64th minute of play.
  • Morrisville claimed the first score of the afternoon 11 minutes into the opening period as Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) collected her fifth of the season off the dish from Iyla Lilleby (Medina, N.Y.).
  • Beaver extended the lead to 2-0 for the visitors in the 25th minute, converting the penalty stroke for the score, her sixth tally of the year.
  • Keuka was able to cut into the Mustangs lead just over a minute into the third quarter, but Beaver added her second of the day at 38:18 off the feed from Leet to regain the two-goal advantage for Morrisville.
  • Keuka added another tally in the fourth, before tying the match at three late in the contest on a penalty stroke and attempted to snatch the game from the Mustangs with a penalty corner in the closing minutes, but the defense forced the Wolves outside of the scoring circle and forced the extra period.
  • Morrisville immediate pressured the goal cage, placing a shot on net that was turned aside by Keuka goalkeeper Jordan Nichols, but a foul by the Wolves defense awarded the Mustangs the penalty corner.
  • Beaver placed the insert on the stick of Noyes just outside the circle on the top left and within seconds, Noyes blasted the ball between the feet of Nichols for the game winning tally.
  • Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.) collected two saves in cage in the opening half, before Jillian Buczkowski (Rome, N.Y.) appeared in the second half and overtime period.
  • Nichols had 14 stops for Keuka in the loss, 12 in the second quarter as Morrisville registered 15 total shots in the frame.
  • Morrisville edged the hosts 19-5 in shots on goal, but Keuka held the 13-5 advantage in penalty corners on the day.
