Morrisville bounces Roos in SUNYAC opener

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 match sweep over visiting SUNY Canton Friday night in Morrisville, earning their first SUNYAC win of the season on their home court on senior night.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball opened State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play Friday evening with a 3-0 sweep of visiting SUNY Canton to earn their first league win of the 2024 season.
  • Morrisville, who recorded set scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-15, hit a collecting .292 from the floor across the match, including a .471 effort in the second set.
  • The Mustangs, aside from their dominance at the net, also served up a match total 16 aces.
  • Senior Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with a stellar night, hitting a collegiate best .542 from the floor as she slammed down 14 kills for the hosts.
  • Fellow senior Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) added 11 as she hit .364, adding four service aces to her totals.
  • Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) put up a total 23 assists for Morrisville, serving a match high seven aces to go along with her two kills.
  • Four of her aces came in the opening set to boost the Mustangs to the 25-13 win.
  • Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) had 18 digs in the defensive play for the Mustangs, also contributing four assists and two aces to the team's totals on the night.
  • Emerson Coulter led the Roos with nine kills, adding three digs, while Sarah Balcom added four to go along with one ace and two digs.
  • Sammie Frank had 16 assists for the Roos.
  • Seniors Olson, Huppee and Kamryn Roher (Morrisville, N.Y.) were celebrated  prior to opening serve for their collegiate careers with the Mustangs.

  • Morrisville will host SUNY Oswego at 1 p.m. Saturday for the second SUNYAC match of the weekend.
