Final Bengal push sinks Morrisville in league battle

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's soccer team allowed three goals over the final 10 minutes of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play Wednesday afternoon, dropping the 3-0 decision to host Buffalo State College in Buffalo.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host Buffalo State College scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of league action Wednesday afternoon, defeating the visiting Morrisville Mustangs by a 3-0 final in Buffalo.
  • Both teams put on a battle in the midfield, with host Buffalo State having the game's first opportunity midway through the opening half to put one on the board, but the shot attempt was turned away by Mustangs keeper Ronaldo Fatolou (New York, N.Y.)
  • Moments later, Morrisville rifled one of their own at the Bengals net, but a Buffalo State defender stepped in the way and registered the team save.
  • After a scoreless opening half, Morrisville got a good look at net, but the bottom center shot was stopped by Shae Wirt, keeping the visitors off the board.
  • Fatolou turned away two Bengal attempts over the ensuing 10 minutes time, including one that was a punch out just under the cross bar to prevent the score.
  • Morrisville had another attempt in the 79th minute, but Wirt made the stop.
  • Buffalo State broke through in the 80th minute of action with the go ahead score, before registering a second minutes later, capping off the victory with a third at the 87:31 mark to seal the win.
  • Fatolou finished with six saves in net in the loss.
  • Wirt collected three.
  • Diego Rivera, Adam Webster and Aney Djadou each posted goals for the Bengals, with Manu Prieto assisting two.
