PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team allowed five unanswered scores in the first period of Saturday night's SUNYAC play against no. 5 nationally ranked Plattsburgh State, dropping the league contest by a 8-2 final in Plattsburgh.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville scored the opening goal of Saturday night's action against no. 5 nationally ranked Plattsburgh State, but couldn't hold on as the host Cardinals posted five unanswered tallies to claim a commanding 5-1 lead after the opening period in Plattsburgh.
• Plattsburgh, who scored three more to add to its lead, claimed the 8-2 victory on their home ice.
• Morrisville's first tally came 4:15 into the league contest, a slap from Robert Haak (Spencerport, N.Y.) off the feed from Jacob Black (Fergus, Ont.) and Brett Tibbs (Mt. Airy, Md.) for the 1-0 advantage.
• The lead was short lived, however, as Plattsburgh evened it at one at the seven minute mark, before collecting four more to end the period with a 5-1 lead.
• Morrisville got one back 11-seconds into the second period with a season second score from Trevor Neumann (Burlington, Ont.), but once again, Plattsburgh buried the puck two more times to lead 7-2 after two periods of action.
• Jonas Leas (North Vancouver, B.C.) was credited with the assist.
• Plattsburgh added one final score early in the third to wrap up all scoring.
• Morrisville held the slight advantage in the face-off circle with Christopher Mott (Nesconset, N.Y.) posting eight wins alongside Leas, who also registered eight wins.
• Garrett Boyonoski (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) had 37 stops in the loss for the Mustangs in net, including 13 in the final frame of the contest.
