Mustangs Rally Comes Up Short Against Mighty Oaks



MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's soccer team had a strong second half but came up short against visiting SUNY ESF on Wednesday afternoon as the Mighty Oaks picked up the 3-2 win.

  • Final Score: Morrisville 2, SUNY ESF 3
  • Location: Drake Field, Morrisville, N.Y.
  • Records: Morrisville 3-4-1, SUNY ESF 3-1
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mighty Oaks would jump out to and early lead as they would score a goal 25 seconds into the game.  They would continue their attack as they would score again in the games 7th minute to go up 2-0.
  • The Mustangs defense would finish strong in the first half as they would hold the Might Oaks to 0 in the next 38 minutes of play.
  • After falling behind 3-0 in the second half the Mustangs would not quit as they would go on to score 2 goals in a three-minute span to cut the lead to one.
  • The Mustangs would keep the pressure on as they would have 4 strong shots on goal in the last five minutes of play.
  • Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with two goals scored.  Callie has a total of 10 goals scored on the season thus far.
  • Emiko Matsumoto (Chandler, AZ) recorded the Mustangs first assist as the she would send a strong pass to Lafontaine to put the Mustangs on the board.
  • Jozlyn Dolan (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) sent a pass through the Mighty Oaks box to a streaking Lafontaine to earn the Mustangs second assist in the game.
  • Melanie Rott (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) had a strong game in goal for the Mustangs as she finished with 11 saves.

  • The Mustangs return to action on Saturday September 30th when they travel to SUNY Delhi.
