Morrisville women settle for tie with Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's soccer team settled for a one-goal tie with host SUNY Delhi Saturday afternoon, netting their lone goal in the first half of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action in Delhi.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's soccer was first to post a tally on the scoreboard Saturday afternoon but couldn't hold the lead as Delhi scored the equalizer seconds before half, playing to a one-goal draw cone final whistle in Delhi in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.
  • Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) collected her 11th score of the season at the 43:22 mark of the opening half, sending the free kick inside the right goalpost for the Mustang lead.
  • Just over a minute later, though, Delhi posted the equalizer, tying the contest at one at the midway point.
  • Morrisville had a chance to go ahead late in the contest, but the shot was stopped short by Bronco keeper Vanessa Sanchez.
  • Delhi pressured the Mustangs defense in the closing minutes of the game, being awarded a corner kick, where they were able to get a shot off towards net, but Melanie Rott (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) kept the hosts off the board, and secured the draw.
  • Rott had six total stops in net for the Mustangs, who registered a 2-0-2 league record come final whistle.
