POTSDAM, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse picked up a 19-15 win Saturday afternoon as hometown native Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) collected a team high six goals and added an assist to lead the Mustangs to the victory in Potsdam.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville picked up their first win of the season Saturday as they downed host SUNY Potsdam 19-15 in non-conference action in Potsdam.
• Five different Mustangs contributed to the win, including junior midfielder Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) who posted a team high six goals to go along with an assist and three draw controls in front of the hometown crowd.
• Cara Walker (Phelps, N.Y.) also had a seven point performance, netting four goals and assisting three, while snagging five ground balls and a team high 14 draws.
• Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) got in on the scoring with four goals and two assists for dix team points, adding three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers, while Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) notched three tallies and two assists for five points.
• Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.) rounded out the Mustang scoring with a pair of tallies.
• Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) collected eight stops in her first collegiate win in net.
• It took less than a minute into the contest for Morrisville to set the pace, with Baum picking up her first of the afternoon, followed minutes later by McDonald who posted an unassisted score for the 2-0 lead.
• Following a Potsdam tally, McDonald added a second, before the hosts rattled off two straight to tie the contest at three with under three minutes showing on the clock.
• McDonald gave the visitors the one-goal edge after the opening quarter with her third of the afternoon, and added another minutes into the second for the two goal advantage.
• Potsdam was able to cut the deficit to one, but Treadway responded with one of her own to counter the tally.
• After the Bears pulled back within one, Morrisville fired off four straight over a minutes time, three that came off the stick of Baum and another from McDonald, opening the contest to a five goal Mustang lad midway through the second.
• Potsdam posted three straight to head into the half trailing by two.
• Morrisville outgained the hosts 3-2 in the third, two tallies coming from Walker and another from Treadway as they entered the final frame with a 13-10 lead.
• Dodge joined the Mustang scoring with tally off the dish from Treadway 11 ticks into the final quarter, but Potsdam responded with an unassisted tally of their own as Morrisville maintained the three-goal distance.
• Walker sparked a four-goal run for Morrisville with her unassisted tally at 12:38, before finding Dodge for a second score on the women-down at the 9:12 mark.
• McDonald collected her sixth of the afternoon 14 seconds later before Walker put the Mustangs in front by seven with her unassisted goal at 6:53.
• Potsdam rallied for three straight to cut the Mustang lead to four, but Treadway added another for the visitors to increase the lead to five, and put Morrisville far enough ahead to collect the win.

• Morrisville returns to the field for a three-game home skid starting Wednesday as they play host to Utica University at 6 p.m. on Drake Field.
• The win is the first for Morrisville head coach Andrea Confrin on the Mustang sidelines.
