MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference decision to visiting SUNY Geneseo Wednesday afternoon as the Knights marched past the hosts with seven third quarter tallies en route to a 15-8 victory on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Host SUNY Morrisville led 3-2 after the opening quarter of Wednesday afternoon's non-conference match with visiting SUNY Geneseo but it wasn't enough as the Knights tallied 10 total scores in the second hand to claim the 15-8 win on Drake Field in Morrisville.
• Geneseo put the first on the board at 11:15 but Morrisville rattled off two straight to take the 2-1 lead five minutes in.
• Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) collected the block that ricocheted off a Geneseo defender's helmet and juked the Knight goalkeeper for the Mustangs first tally, a mere 15 seconds later, with Nicholas DeNicola (Southold, N.Y.) picking up the assist.
• A minute later, Zack Mabry (Suffern, N.Y.) notched his first of the season with a three-quarter field length score on the open net with the clearing pass from Dylan Laplace (Chester, Conn.).
• After Geneseo tied the contest at two, Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) gave Morrisville the 3-2 edge with his unassisted score at the 1:52 mark.
• Geneseo tied the contest at three at the 11:19 mark in the second and posted eight unanswered scores over the ensuing 17 minutes to take the commanding 10-3 lead with 8:23 to go in the third.
• Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) broke the scoring drought for Morrisville midway through the third with his unassisted score, before Patriarco added his second of the contest, followed by another from Mohammed to cut the deficit to four with 1:30 to go in the quarter.
• The Knights, though, added two more to carry a 12-6 lead into the fourth frame.
• Ethan Hicks (Dryden, N.Y.) made it a five-goal game with his unassisted score early in the fourth, but Geneseo would add two more to increase their lead to seven.
• Mohammed collected the hat trick with 6:26 remaining for the Mustangs, quickly putting away the feed from Hicks, but a final Geneseo strike put the game away in favor of the visitors.
• Laplace collected 17 saves in the loss in net for Morrisville, adding two interceptions and two ground balls to his efforts.
• Kyle Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) led the defensive unit with three caused turnovers, picking up a team best eight ground balls.

 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 

• Morrisville will return to the field Sunday, hosting SUNY New Paltz at 4:30 p.m. on Drake Field. The Mustangs were supposed to be on the road Saturday, but weather forced a schedule and location change.
