Morrisville women create scoring blizzard in win over Kings

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's ice hockey team scored seven times Tuesday evening as they downed visiting Kings College 7-1 in non-conference action in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's ice hockey team collected a 7-1 non-conference win Tuesday evening, with six different Mustangs picking up scores, while four others added points to the victory.
  • Morrisville opened with a 2-0 first period lead, netting their first at 13:09 as Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) picked up her first of two on the night off the rebound from Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.) and Kendal Kalinowski (Buffalo, N.Y.).
  • Miranda Bookman (Manlius, N.Y.) added to the Mustang lead minutes later, netting her first of the season with the wrister from Jenny DeJung (Akwesasne, N.Y.).
  • Davidson picked up her second of the night just two minutes into the second period, again chipping in the dish from Kalinowski.
  • Seconds later, Kings was able to get on the board with their lone tally of the night, a wrister that beat the glove of Morrisville netminder Elizabeth Timby (Getzville, N.Y.).
  • The hosts regained the lead with a scoring flick from Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) to close out the second with the 4-1 advantage.
  • In the third, the hosts poured in three more to add to their lead, causing havoc in the offensive zone as they dominated the visitors.
  • Kennedy Kirkby (Prescott, Ont.) netted her first of the season off the dish from McDonald and Madison Tomkins (Windsor, Ont.) at 6:10 before Easson added to her point total on the night with a rebound strike at 14:47.
  • Davidson was credited with the assist.
  • Just over a minute later, Zoe Leas (North Vancouver, B.C.) notched the Mustangs power play score with the one-timer from Kate Mabey (Guelph, Ont.) and Kalinowski.
  • Davidson and Kalinowski finished with a three-point night for the Mustangs, Davidson netting two goals and assisting one, while Kalinowski had three assists.
  • Timby registered 11 saves in the win as Morrisville outshot Kings 48-12.
