Morrisville men suffer setback to Post

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team suffered a setback Friday night as visiting Post University notched a third period tally to claim a 3-2 win over the host Mustangs in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Post University posted the go ahead tally 1:35 into the third period Friday night, handing host SUNY Morrisville a 3-2 loss on their home ice in Morrisville.
  • Post headed into the locker room at the conclusion of the first period with a 1-0 lead, netting the first tally of the night at the 17:25 mark.
  • Just two minutes into the second, though, Morrisville was able to pull even with the short-handed score off the stick of Curtis Abbott (Belmont, Ont.) who buried the wrist shot for the Mustangs first goal of the night.
  • Robert Haak (Spencerport, N.Y.) and Jacob Black (Fergus, Ont.) were credited with the assists.
  • Within minutes, Trevor Neumann (Burlington, Ont.) gave the Mustangs the 2-1 lead with his crease cleanup on the power play at the 8:52 mark after the initial shot by Cameron Clark (Daytona Beach, Fla.) who picked up the assist alongside Connor Carlile (Southlake, Texas).
  • Post sent the game into the second intermission knotted at two, posting the equalizer at 17:18.
  • The Eagles were able to put one past Morrisville netminder Garrett Boyonoski (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) 1:35 into the third for the 3-2 advantage and held on for the non-conference win despite consistent pressure from the Mustangs attacking line for the remainder of the period.
  • Boyonoski collected 20 stops in the loss in net for Morrisville.
  • Drew Blodgett posted the win with a 44 stop effort.
