Davidson, Easson score in loss to Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Sophomores Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.) each posted scores Saturday afternoon for the visiting SUNY Morrisville Mustangs, but it wasn't enough as Oswego collected the 3-2 win on the Lakers home ice in Oswego in NEWHL action.

THE BASICS:
  • Final Score: Morrisville 2, Oswego 3
  • Location: Oswego, N.Y.
  • Records: Morrisville 6-12-1, 3-9-0 NEWHL; Oswego 11-8-1, 7-4-1 NEWHL

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Sophomore Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) was first to strike in Saturday afternoon's NEWHL outing for the SUNY Morrisville women's ice hockey team and Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.) added a third period score, but it wasn't enough as the host Oswego Lakers collected the 3-2 league win on their home ice in Oswego.
  • Davidson's tally came midway through the opening period off the dish from Allicen Bouchard (Rockford, Ill.) and Emma Thompson (Ingleside, Ont.) to give the Mustangs the 1-0 advantage.
  • That was short lived, however, as Oswego posted back-to-back tallies just over a minute apart to claim the 2-1 lead after the first period.
  • A power play score late in the second found the Mustangs trailing 3-1 heading into the final frame.
  • Late in the third Morrisville went on the power play where they capitalized with a score from Easson to cut the deficit to one.
  • Kendra Johnston (St. Albert, Alta.) and Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) were credited with the assists.
  • Morrisville put up to more shot attempts in the closing minutes of the contest, but were turned away as Oswego escaped with the win.
  • Maggie Jones (Marystown, N.L.) recorded the loss in net, despite a 35 save effort across 48 minutes of play.
  • Emma Plett (Grunthal, Man.) appeared for the final 12 minutes of play, turning away three.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville returns to the ice Friday, traveling to Buffalo State for a weekend dual. Puck drops at 5 Friday, followed by 3 p.m. Saturday.
