MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville head softball coach, Brittany Stroop, announced her departure from the Mustangs program last week to pursue other intercollegiate administrative opportunities.

"I want to thank Brittany for all of the effort, time, and energy she has put into our softball program and the sports information department," SUNY Morrisville Director of Athletics Matt Grawrock said.

"She has been an invaluable member of the Morrisville family and will be truly missed. She has dedicated so much to our student-athletes and has always placed their well-being and success at the forefront of her work.

"Brittany will always be a part of the Mustang family and we'll be cheering her on in the next steps of her career."

Stroop joined the Mustangs program in the fall 2015, and during her career with the green and white also oversaw athletic communications for volleyball and men's and women's ice hockey as an assistant sports information director.

Throughout her time at the helm of the softball program, Stroop has guided several to All-Conference accolades, emphasized academic and athletic success, as well as leadership and community involvement. Numerous student-athletes have earned academic honors through the NFCA and league offices.

"First, I want to thank the athletic department for providing me a space to grow personally and professionally," Stroop said. "It has been a privilege to learn from my colleagues. Their support has been invaluable.

"I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the student-athletes who have either played for me or those that I have covered as the sports information contact for their sports. I am honored to have been a part of your college experience.

"The decision to leave coaching was one that was not made lightly as I have enjoyed building relationships with the student-athletes, colleagues, and faculty/staff within the SUNY Morrisville community.  While this is bitter sweet, I am looking forward to pursing other career paths within college athletics."

A national search for her replacement is currently underway.
