Morrisville women suffer setback to Medaille

Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team suffered a 13-4 United East setback to host Medaille College Saturday afternoon, dropping their overall record to 6-6 on the season, and 3-3 within league action.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse suffered a 13-4 setback to host Medaille College Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale, dropping to 3-3 overall in United East play.
  • Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) led the Mustangs efforts with two goals, while teammate Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) added one and assisted another. Baum also collected five draws on the day.
  • Makenzi Santini (Fairport, N.Y.) collected a score, and Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) turned in two assists.
  • Laura Lorraine (Hamilton, N.Y.) recorded nine saves in the loss in net, adding two ground balls and two caused turnovers to her tallies on the day.
  • Medaille opened with three straight scores before Santini was able to capitalize for the Mustangs to put the visitors on the board.
  • Santini notched the lone score of the opening quarter midway through as Morrisville had the extra player while Medaille was serving penalty time. Treadway picked up the assist.
  • Medaille closed out the quarter with a 6-1 lead before Treadway cut it to four in the opening minutes of the second, but another Maverick score gave the hosts the 7-3 lead at the break.
  • Morrisville notched their final first half tally with seven seconds to go before the halftime period as Baum connected off the dish from McDonald to cut the lead to four at the half.
  • Baum added her second of the contest early in the third, but Medaille went on a 6-0 run to close out the contest and capture the league win.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will enter post-season play as the fourth overall seed in the tournament bracket, traveling to top seeded St. Mary's College (Md.) Friday for a noon start in the first semi-final action.
