Morrisville men firing on all cylinders in win over Hilbert

Box Score HAMBURG, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse picked up where they left off two weeks ago Saturday afternoon on the road, as they were firing on all cylinders to up their United East record to an undefeated 5-0 slate following the 21-4 defeat of Hilbert in Hamburg.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse picked up where they left off after a two-week schedule gap Saturday afternoon, handing host Hilbert College a 21-4 United East defeat in Hamburg.
  • The Mustangs, who's last outing was April 9 against LaRoche, didn't waste time getting the scoring rolling Saturday, netting the first of several just 58 seconds in, racing out to a 13-1 halftime lead en route to their fifth United East victory of the season.
  • Morrisville dominated all facets of the game, including shots on goal 36-16, ground balls 58-27, and at the center start, winning 23 of 28 total faceoffs; while a total 10 Mustangs put points on the board to contribute to the win.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) recorded the win in net, turning away 12 while also collecting two ground ball efforts.
  • Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) paved the way for the Mustangs with his eight point performance, netting three scores wile assisting another five. Nestor also collected seven ground balls and caused two turnovers for the visitors.Luke Strong
  • Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) added six points behind his three tallies and three assists, while fellow attackman Luke Strong (Rochester, N.Y.) rifled four scores past the Hilbert keeper, while assisting another for five points.
  • Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) collected the hat trick off the bench, while Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals and dished out another two for four points.
  • Savion Williams (Peekskill, N.Y.) sniped two past the Hawks keeper, as fellow senior midfielder Peter Pina (Culver City, Calif.) added one to go along with his four assists.
  • Gerald Klubek (Eden, N.Y.), Willie Burns (Cutchogue, N.Y.) and Chris Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) each collected one, while Klubek also registered an assist.
  • Klubek also put together a 6-for-8 performance at the center x, collecting five ground balls.
  • Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.) dominated the start for the Mustangs, winning 17-of-20 face-offs, while posting a team high 10 ground balls.
  • Morrisville jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead with Reiss getting the ball rolling with his first of three opening frame tallies just 58 seconds in.
  • Within minutes, Reiss added another, a short handed tally, before Strong posted his first to give the Mustangs the 3-0 advantage at the 7:50 mark.
  • Morrisville posted back-to-back tallies less than 27 seconds apart to follow, with Pina collecting one and Reiss adding his third on the extra-man,
  • Williams and Patriarco rounded out the scoring for the quarter with one of their own, giving the visitors the seven-goal cushion heading into the second.
  • Morrisville had three quick strikes to increase their lead to 10 before Hilbert got on the board, but the Hawk momentum was shortlived as Morrisville quickly added three more to carry a 13-1 significant advantage into the break.
  • Hilbert was able to sneak two past LaPlace in the third, but Morrisville's offensive unit was too strong to contain and rattled off seven quarter tallies for the commanding 17-goal lead three-quarters through.
  • Picciott added the final score for the Mustangs late in the fourth, as Morrisville improved their league record to 5-0 and have one final conference contest to go in the regular season.

  • Morrisville will host Medaille College on Monday at 4 p.m. in the team's regular season finale on Drake Field.
