MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville softball team dropped both doubleheader games to the visiting Wildcats of Penn College on Tuesday afternoon.
Jade Atherton (Greenwood, NY) and
Kennedy Kirkby (Prescott, ONT) tallied two hits apiece in the loss.

- Final Score: Penn College 27, Morrisville 3 (5 inn.)

- Final Score: Penn College 13, Morrisville 1 (6 inn.)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Wildcats came out with their bats on fire, posting ten runs on seven hits in the opening inning.
- Neither team recorded a run in the second, but Penn College responded with 14 additional runs in the third, drawing nine walks and tailing seven hits.
- The Mustangs responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Atherton drew a walk to start the inning and advanced to second off a shot to left center from Kirkby. Brookelyn Hanley (Manchester, NY) put runners in scoring position with a rip of her own to center field. Atherton and Kirkby scored the first two of three runs for Morrisville on a Wildcat error.
- Hanley scored the third and final run of the inning for the Mustangs off a single coming from Tiana Terry (Liverpool, PA).
- Kellina Murphy suffered the loss for Morrisville, striking out four after facing 27 batters in game one.
- The Morrisville defense kept things close in the opening innings of game two, allowing only two runs in the first three innings of play.
- Pinch runner, Maria Santilli (Bristol, CONN) scored the lone run for the Mustangs in the bottom of the fifth.
- Hannah Godfrey (Southgate, MICH) struck out one and walked only two, pitching all six innings in the loss.
WHAT'S NEXT
Softball continues with United East conference play, hosing Wells College in a double header on Wednesday afternoon. Games are scheduled to start at 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
