Treadway rips off six in season opening win for Mustang women

Box Score CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) fired off six goals on seven eight shots Friday afternoon to lead visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse to a 14-8 win over Route 20 Rival Cazenovia in the season opener in Cazenovia.

  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville outgunned host Cazenovia 14-8 Friday afternoon as senior midfielder Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) rattled off six goals to open the season with a win for the Mustangs.
  • Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) added six points of her own, splitting with the hat trick of three goals and three assists.
  • Senior Makenzi Santini (Fairport, N.Y.) also collected a hat trick with her three tallies, while Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) added a goal and two more assists.
  • Keeley Riley (Dexter, N.Y.) collected her first collegiate tally, also assisting two others in the win for the Mustangs.
  • Laura Lorraine (Hamilton, N.Y.) picked up the win in net with her game total nine stops.
  • Both teams played back and forth through the opening quarter of action while Cazenovia carried a 3-2 lead into the second frame.
  • Morrisville broke open the scoring over three minutes time with four straight scores, two from Treadway, while allowing just one to lead 6-4 at the break.
  • In the third, quick strikes from Treadway and McDonald gave the Mustangs a boost to a four-goal lead, before Cazenovia responded, but Morrisville maintained the edge, leading 11-7 at the end of three.
  • Cazenovia posted an unassisted tally early on, but the Mustangs added three more to their lead, including two on the extra man opportunity, earning the 14-8 non-conference win.
