Morrisville falls in non-conference action with Oswego

Dante Patriarco
Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse attempted a comeback late in the non-conference match up with visiting SUNY Oswego, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers collected the 10-7 win over the hosts in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville scored three straight in the final quarter of Friday night's non-conference match against visiting SUNY Oswego in a comeback attempt, but fell short as the Lakers earned the 10-7 win on Drake Field.
  • All three tallies in the fourth came within a span of two minutes time as the Mustangs took advantage of an Oswego non-releasable two-minute penalty.
  • Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) and Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) each scored two in the loss for the Mustangs, with Reiss adding an assist to lead the scoring with a total three points.
  • Luke Strong (Rochester, N.Y.) added a goal and assist along with Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.), while Chris Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) added a goal of his own.
  • Zack Mabry (Suffern, N.Y.) led the defensive unit with three caused turnovers, collecting a team high five ground balls in the loss.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) made 15 stops between the pipes, including three on the doorstop of the crease.
  • Morrisville, who held the 43-38 advantage in shots on the night, opened the contest with the first three tallies of the night before Oswego was able to put one on the board.
  • Picciott struck first for the Mustangs, netting an unassisted tally just 51 seconds in before Strong added one less than a minute for the 2-0 advantage.
  • Reiss collected his first of the night on the extra man at the 5:54 mark off the feed from Nestor, before Oswego responded to send the game into the second with a 3-1 host lead.
  • Oswego rattled off three unanswered tallies in the second quarter to claim their first lead of the contest, and a 4-3 advantage at the half.
  • Following an Oswego score early in the third, Reiss broke the Mustangs drought with his second EMO of the night, but the Lakers Weston Gray notched two more to close out the third with a 7-4 visitor advantage.
  • Oswego collected two more in the fourth before the Mustangs took advantage of a non-releasable unsportsmanlike penalty, with Patriarco putting away the dish from Peter Pina (Caruthers, Calif.) to cut the deficit to four.
  • Within moments, Nestor added one as well off the feed from Reiss, before Patriarco collected his second from Pina to make it a two-goal game.
  • Gray added a final tally for Oswego with just over three minutes to go, and the Lakers held the Mustangs scoreless for the remainder of the contest to secure the win.
  • Gray finished with five points on the night, scoring four and assisting another.
  • Morrisville scored five extra man goals on the night, and held Oswego scoreless on their nine penalty chances.
