Nestor's seven-point game leads to season opening win for Morrisville men

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Junior attackman Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) recorded a seven-point performance for the host SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon as they opened the season with a 11-5 non-conference win over visiting SUNY Delhi on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Junior Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) opened the season with a seven point performance for the host SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team as they downed visiting SUNY Delhi by a 11-5 non-conference final Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville.
  • Nestor collected a total four goals and three assists on the day, netting a score in each quarter of action, while fellow teammate Luke Strong (Rochester, N.Y.) added his first collegiate hat trick behind his three goals and an assist.
  • Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) added two goals to the Mustang scoring on the day, while Gerald Klubeck (Eden, N.Y.) and Peter Pina (Culver City, Calif.) rounded out the goal scorers with one of their own each.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) collected the win in net behind his 13 stops.
  • Morrisville jumped out to a 3-1 first quarter lead behind the sticks of Nestor and Reiss, before adding to their total in the second with two additional goals to carry the 6-4 lead into the break.
  • Nestor collected the lone goal of the third, putting away the thrilling behind the back tally after an interception by Strong on the Bronco clear attempt.
  • Morrisville carried momentum into the fourth, pulling away from the visitors as they posted an additional four scores, two from Strong for the hat trick, collecting the season opening 11-5 win.
  • The Mustangs dominated the center x, winning 14-of-20 total attempts, 12 wins coming from Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.).
  • Kyle Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) put up a good defensive wall for the Mustangs, causing four turnovers while collecting a team high five ground balls.
  • Strong collected three grounders of his own to add to the Mustang total.

  • Morrisville returns to the field Saturday, hosting SUNY Canton in a non-conference battle on Drake Field. Opening face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Morrisville.
