Clark's four-point night leads Morrisville men to win over Potsdam

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville sophomore Cameron Clark (Daytona Beach, Fla.) collected four points behind two goals and two assists Wednesday night, leading the host Mustangs to a 6-3 decisive win over visiting SUNY Potsdam in SUNYAC action.

THE BASICS:
  • Final Score: Morrisville 6, Potsdam 3
  • Location: Morrisville IcePlex, Morrisville, N.Y.
  • Records: Morrisville 5-5, 3-4 SUNYAC; Potsdam 3-9, 2-5 SUNYAC

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville picked up their second straight league victory Wednesday night topping visiting SUNY Potsdam by a 6-3 final score on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville.
  • Sophomore Cameron Clark (Daytona Beach, Fla.) posted two goals and two assists to lead the Mustangs, including the first of the night at the 8:10 mark of the opening period.
  • Trevor Neumann (Burlington, Ont.) sent the puck towards the bet with his backhanded chip, before Clark got a stick on it for the tip over the blocker of the Bears netminder giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
  • Minutes later, Potsdam evened the contest with a tally of their own, but Chris Mott (Nesconset, N.Y.) sent the hosts into the intermission break with a 2-1 lead after posting a one-time wrister on the right post off the center from Jestin Somero (New Ipswich, N.H.).
  • Potsdam again pulled the contest even at two with a tally at the 11:17 mark of the second, but a rebound score on the right post by James Boisvert (Mansfield, Tex.) at 15:39 put the Mustangs back in front as he chipped the puck under the glove of the Bear netminder for the go-ahead power play score.
  • Clark picked up the assist for Morrisville, who had the 5-on-3 advantage on the ice.
  • The Bears sent the game into the second intermission tied at three after a turnover on the blue in the Mustangs offensive end led to a breakaway shorthanded tally.
  • It was all Morrisville in the third, however, as Neumann put the hosts back out in front off assists from Jonas Leas (North Vancouver, B.C.) and Clark three minutes into the final period.
  • Richard Hart (Liverpool, N.Y.) was able to extend the lead to two in the final minute of play as Potsdam pulled their goaltender for the extra skater and left the net open for the defenseman score.
  • Clark wrapped up all scoring for the Mustangs with his second of the night, an empty net tally, with 7.7 seconds to go in the contest as Neumann cleared the puck to the mid-ice wing and Clark hit the back bar for the score.
  • Neumann finished with a goal and two assists for a three-point night.
  • Ryan Creenan (Colonia, N.J.) picked up the win in net, saving 25.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville will have a final road trip of the first semester of action Saturday as they head north to Plattsburgh for a battle with the Cardinals. The puck drops at 7 p.m. in the SUNYAC outing.
