Box Score HUNTINGDON, PA. – The SUNY Morrisville volleyball team made a program fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship tournament Thursday afternoon, battling until the end against a tough Christopher Newport squad, seeing the 2022 season come to an end with a 3-1 match loss in the opening round at Juniata College.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• SUNY Morrisville made their fourth appearance in program history at the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships Thursday afternoon, but saw their season come to a close as they fell 3-1 to Christopher Newport in the first round match.
• Morrisville claimed the first set over the Captains, 25-21, but Christopher Newport found their offensive rhythm and displayed their national prowess at the net to sweep the next three over the Mustangs for the win to advance.
• Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) led Morrisville in the attack game, posting 17 kills as she hit .278 on the day also serving up an ace in the match.
• Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) added 10 kills in the match, with Keelin Baker (Vestal, N.Y.) posting nine.
• Huppee also registered 10 digs to go along with a 24-dig effort by libero Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Colo.).
• Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) recorded 26 assists.
• Morrisville sees the season come to a close with an overall 23-8 record, the fifth season under direction of head coach Fred Wallace to post 20+ wins.
