WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs put the pressure on the Francisan defense, taking the first two corner kicks of the contest early on in the first half. Puan Aung (Utica, NY) had a great opportunity off the second corner, but was unable to deliver.
  • After several Franciscan substitutions, Morrisville's Kelvin Diaz (Spring Valley, NY) had a great strike on the ball, nearly missing the goal and hitting the post. Diaz took the ensuing corner kick, but the James Flannery (Ontario, NY) header resulted in a defensive safe for the Barons.
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, heading into halftime tied at 0-0, with Franciscan holding a slight 5-3 edge in shots.
  • The Barons' offense came out aggressive in the second half, registering four corners and two shots on goal, maintaining much of the possession in the 12' minutes of play. Franciscan's Nick Miller scored the lone goal of the game, his first of the season, off of a penalty kick in the 58' minute of play.
  • Franciscan outshot Morrisville 12-5 in the contest, and held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Freshman goalkeeper, Caleb Lucero (Syracuse, NY) made his debut in goal for the Mustangs, recording six saves in all 90' minutes of action for Morrisville.
