MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville field hockey team dropped their home opener Friday evening, falling to visiting Castleton University by a 8-1 final on Drake Field.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting Castleton University's Emily Harris notched five scores Friday afternoon to lead the Spartans past the SUNY Morrisville hosts 8-1 in Morrisville.
• Morrisville's lone score of the contest came at the 7:26 mark when Camberly VanValkenburg (Walton, N.Y.) tipped in the scramble off an initial shot by Heather Cummings (Akron, N.Y.). Erika Herrman (Oneida, N.Y.) was credited with the assist after chipping the ball towards VanValkenburg.
• Morgan Dueber (Owego, N.Y.) registered the loss in net for the Mustangs, turning away a total 12, six in the third quarter of action.
• Harris' first tally came 2:02 into the opening quarter as she dribbled into the circle off the corner insert to sneak the ball past Dueber.
• Nearly four minutes later she registered a second unassisted, air dribbling the ball into the circle and following through with a slap for the tally.
• VanValkenburg made it a 2-1 game with her tally at the 7:26 mark, but the final three scores of the half belonged to the Spartans, two more from Harris, as they collected the win.

• Morrisville returns to the field tomorrow, traveling to St. Joseph's College in Connecticut. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
