Mustangs tripped up on the road at Castleton

CASTLETON, V.T. – The SUNY Morrisville women's soccer team dropped their first contest of the 2021 season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Spartans of Castleton University by a score of 6-1. Ashley Tette (Rochester, NY) scored the lone goal of the game for the Mustangs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Tette put the visitors on the scoreboard first, scoring her third goal of the season in the eighth minute of play. Rachel Davis (LaFargeville, NY) was credited with the assist.
  • The Spartans responded quickly with a goal of their own when Brytney Moore found the back of the net. Moore's goal was the first goal allowed for Morrisville this season.
  • Castleton would go on to score five additional goals in the first half of play, extending their lead to 6-1 heading in to half time.
  • Morrisville tallied three shots in the second half, but were unable to connect, suffering their first defeat of the 2021 season.
  • Mustang goalkeeper, Meaghan Miller (West Irondequoit, NY) registered eight saves in all 90' minutes of action between the pipes.  
  • Tette has registered a goal in each of the three games played this season.

  • The Mustangs return to the pitch Wednesday evening, hosting SUNY Poly at 7:00pm.
