MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's soccer team got back in the win column on Wednesday evening, defeating the Wildcats of SUNY Poly 2-0 under the lights on Drake Field.
Brianne Barnes (Waterville, NY) and
Rachel Davis (LaFargeville, NY) both recorded their first goals of the season in the win.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Morrisville opened the game with a bang with an unassisted goal from Barnes in the 9' minute of action. Ashley Tette (Rochester, NY) headed a corner kick just off target to the top right; Barnes collected the rebound and chipped a shot over Poly's keeper, Michalyn Fagan to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
- The Mustangs would see several opportunities throughout the remainder of the first half, taking a 9-2 advantage in shots going into halftime. Fagan held her ground and kept the score at 1-0 after 45' minutes of play.
- Davis would extend Morrisville's lead to two in the 76' minute. The Mustangs came stampeding down the field, led by Tette who ripped a shot just outside the penalty box. Fagan was able to intercept the shot, but not able to gain control as Davis swept in and one-timed the rebound into the back of the net.
- Sophomore goalkeeper, Meaghan Miller (West Irondequoit, NY) earned her third shutout of the season, saving three shots in the win for the Mustangs.
- Morrisville peppered SUNY Poly with 18 total shots, eight of them on target and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

- The Mustangs host St. Mary's College of Maryland in their United East conference opener on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm.
