MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville head men's soccer coach, Geoff Moore, has announced the addition of John Gonzalez to the Mustangs coaching staff for the upcoming 2021 season.
 
Gonzalez, who will be serving as assistant coach and training the goalkeepers, served as a volunteer assistant with the Mustangs last spring.
 
"John joined our staff as a volunteer in the spring of 2021 and proved himself to be reliable, hardworking and dedicated to the Mustang program, as well as showing a great knowledge and passion for the game," said Moore. 
 
"We're very excited to add John to the coaching staff as a fulltime assistant."
 
The Utica, New York native played two seasons with nearby Mohawk Valley Community College as a goalkeeper after graduating from Thomas Proctor High. Following his stint with the Hawks, Gonzalez took his talents to SUNY Canton, where he played two seasons with the Roos at defense.
 
In his final season with Canton, he appeared in 14 total matches and logged more than 700 minutes at defense.
 
Gonzalez earned his degree in legal studies from Canton.
 
Morrisville will report for preseason on Wednesday, August 18 in preparation for the season opener scheduled for September 1 at Oswego.
