Mustangs post win on Senior Day over Medaille; remain undefeated in NEAC play

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team celebrated it's Class of 2021 Saturday afternoon as they cruised to a 23-4 win over visiting Medaille College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Thirteen different Mustangs posted goals Saturday afternoon, including senior's Geoffrey Fields (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and Scott Dzibela (Carmel, N.Y.) as SUNY Morrisville rifled off a 23-4 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) over visiting Medaille College.
  • The Mustangs dominated from the opening whistle and come game end outgained the Mavericks 65-15 in shots, won the ground ball game 61-16, controlled the center X with 27-of-31 face-offs and held Medaille scoreless in two quarters of play.
  • Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) paved the way for the Mustang attacking unit, netting five goals and assisting another two for seven points.
  • Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) also had a seven-point outing for the hosts, collecting three goals and assisting another four, while defenseman Zack Mabry (Suffern, N.Y.) added four points behind his goal and three assists.
  • Mabry also added six ground balls and three caused turnovers on the opposite end of the field, with his score coming from a distance of 50+ yards.
  • Alex Nowak (Cazenovia, N.Y.) collected three goals and an assist, while Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) and Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) each added two scores.
  • Dzibela, Field, Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.), Willie Burns (Cutchogue, N.Y.), Savion Williams (Peekskill, N.Y.), Gerald Klubek (Eden, N.Y.) and Chris Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) each contributed to the win with one goal apiece.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) posted his fifth win of the season between the pipes, making eight stops.
  • Bredeson and Klubek proved to be a challenge for the Mavericks at the center x, as Bredeson went 17-for-18, and Klubek 10-for-13 in face-offs on the day. They combined for a total of 25 ground balls, Klubek collecting a season high 13.
  • Paul Tocci (Riverhead, N.Y.) was an effective component for the defense, collecting seven ground balls, and adding a team best five caused turnovers.
  • Medaille netminder Blaire Prest posted 20 saves in the loss between the pipes, as the Mavericks dropped to 0-2 on the season.
  • Morrisville proved to be a challenge for the Maverick defense from the get-go, netting the first tally just 29 seconds into the contest off a Reiss unassisted score.
  • Within minutes, the lead was extended to two, as senior Dzibela notched his first collegiate score off the feed from Nestor.
  • Come quarter end, Morrisville added two more tallies for a 4-0 first quarter advantage before netting two more, including one within seven seconds of the opening second quarter whistle, to claim a 6-0 lead.
  • Medaille added one early on in the second and another at the start of the third, before Morrisville rattled off 10 more in third frame to widen the gap to 18-4 after three.
  • The Mustangs held the Mavericks scoreless in the final quarter, while netting five more, claiming the league win.

  • Morrisville will wait for news from the conference office regarding post-season, and will pursue their sixth straight league title.
