MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville
head women's lacrosse coach, Ashley Holdridge
, has announced the addition of former Mustang Courtney Cavellier
and colleague Andrea Cofrin
to her coaching staff for the spring 2021 season.
"I am thrilled to be adding Andrea and Courtney to our coaching staff this year," said Holdridge.
"Andrea has a wealth of knowledge to bring to our program and is excited to be working with our team this year. We are excited that she is back in the area and we can be working with her.
"Courtney is very talented and also has a wealth of knowledge to bring to our program, having firsthand experience with our program and conference as a former student-athlete at Morrisville.
"We are so excited to have her work with our offensive players."
Cavellier is no stranger to the Mustang sidelines, having left her mark on the program after a stellar four-year career at midfield.
The four-time North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) All-Conference first team honoree wrapped up her career as the 2019 Player of the Year for the league, earned three conference regular season and tournament titles, while making three appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. She was also an IWLCA All-Region honoree.
Cavellier ranks second all-time in the program record books in points and goals, while recording the top spot in draw controls, second in ground balls and third in caused turnovers.
She was named to the Mustangs All-Decade Team earlier this year.
Cofrin brings a wealth of experience to the Mustang sidelines as a volunteer assistant rising through the coaching ranks throughout her stellar career.
Cofrin began her coaching career at Siena College as the head assistant coach, leading the program to it's first MAAC regular season championship and tournament appearance. She returned in 2008 as head coach where her squads made four consecutive MAAC tournament appearances and had several earn All-MAAC honors. Her efforts lauded her MAAC Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year accolades in 2009.
After a six-year slate with Siena, Cofrin assumed the head role at Saint Anselm where she guided the program to the NCAA tournament.
In 2015 she earned the head role at Columbia University where she leads all Ivy League coaches in most wins as head coach. In 2018 her squad made the Ivy Conference tournament for the first time in program history, and had five earn All-Conference accolades, including Ivy Midfielder of the Year honors.
Morrisville opens the season Saturday, March 13 hosting Rochester Institute of Technology.
