MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming Gwyneth Pritchard (Saskatoon, Sask.), Veronika Alinskas (Westford, Mass.) and Peyton Jones (Friendsville, Pa.) the Mustangs of the Week for action ending October 31.
 
Pritchard led the women's cross country team to a third overall team finish at the United East Championships Saturday, finishing fourth overall with a time of 27:11.8. Her efforts landed her a spot on the first-team All-Conference squad, which highlights the top seven place winners at the championship meet.
 
Consistently one of the top runners for the women throughout the season, Pritchard is the first freshman to earn a first team all-conference accolade for the women's program.
 
Alinskas competed in two different divisions for the Mustangs western riding team Sunday, including the brand new class to the IHSA of Level II Ranch Riding.
 
In the morning competitions, Alinskas earned top rides in the morning show in both ranch riding and Level II Western Horsemanship her first outing in the riding arena in each class. She followed in the afternoon show with another blue ribbon ride in the Level II Western Horsemanship class, and placed second in ranch riding.
 
Alinskas has earned a total of 14 points towards regional show qualification in ranch riding and 12 towards meeting the requirements for western horsemanship.
 
Jones was crowned the 2021 United East Men's Cross Country Individual Champion following his top place finish at the championship meet on Saturday at Lancaster Bible.
 
The sophomore ran the 8K race in 27:40.5 to lead the men's team to a third place overall team finish, while besting the next place finisher by more than 12 seconds.
 
His efforts garnered him first team All-Conference accolades for a second time in his career.
