Dicenzo nets two as Women’s Soccer defeats SUNY Canton

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's soccer team found their way back into the win column Wednesday night, defeating SUNY Canton by a final score of 3-0 under the lights on Drake Field. Sophomore, Tiffany Dicenzo (Rochester, NY) led the Mustangs with two goals as Morrisville improved to 6-4-1 on the season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Sophomore, Ashley Tette (Rochester, NY) got things started for the Mustangs at 21:19, notching her fourth goal of the season. Madison Pelton (Phoenix, NY) delivered a perfect ball between two Canton defenders up field to Tette, who settled and ripped a shot past Canton's goalkeeper, Skylar Williams into the top left corner of the goal.
  • Morrisville would strike again in the opening frame when Dicenzo buried her fifth goal of the season from 30 yards out, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead with less than five minutes to play in the half. Laura Bedell (New Hartford, NY) was credited with the assist on the goal.
  • The momentum carried into the second half for the Mustangs, with Dicenzo leading the charge again. Tette fed a perfect cross to a wide-open Dicenzo, who one-timed a shot past Williams into the left corner of the goal.
  • The Mustang defense held the Roos scoreless throughout all 90 minutes of action, holding the hosts to just three shots, with only one of them on target. Morrisville took 17 shots, 9 on goal in the victory, and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Goalkeepers Meaghan Miller (West Irondequoit, NY) and Melanie Rott (Niagara Falls, NY) split time between the pipes for the Mustangs, as Miller made one save for Morrisville.

  • The Mustangs return to United East conference play this weekend, hosting Penn College of Technology on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm.
