Morrisville Defeats Keuka 3-1 in Tri-Match Finale

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs picked up their third straight win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Keuka College Wolves 3-1 in their home tri-match finale.
 
THE BASICS 
  • Final Score: Morrisville 3, Keuka 1 (25-21, 26-24, 25-27, 25-17)
  • Location: Morrisville, N.Y.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs came out swinging hard in the first set, picking up 15 kills while only posting 4 attack errors in the 25-21 win.
  • Keuka matched Morrisville point for point in a second set that saw six tie scores and four lead changes.  However, it was the Mustangs who were able to pick up the 26-24 win.
  • The Wolves and Mustangs went past the usual 25 point cap in the third set, but it was Keuka who turned the tables in the third, closing out a 27-25 win on back-to-back aces.
  • The momentum was short lived for the Wolves, though as the Mustangs turned in their best team hitting performance in the fourth set, putting away 12 kills on just 2 errors for a .357 hitting percentage.
  • The veteran tandem of Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) and Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.) paced the Morrisville offense, tallying 18 and 17 kills respectively.
  • Defensively, the Mustangs were all over the floor.  Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) picked up a career high 17 digs.  The first year player was closely followed by Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) who posted 16 digs in addition to dishing out 39 assists.
NEXT UP FOR THE MUSTANGS

The Mustangs will hit the road to square off with Route 20 rival, Cazenovia College on Thursday evening.  First serve is set for 6 PM against the Wildcats.
