WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Morrisville rallied back from an early 5-1 opening set deficit to defeat the Golden Eagles 25-18.  Isabella Wallace (Homer, N.Y.) led the comeback charge, picking up ace in the Mustangs run to tie up the first set at 5-5.
  • The Mustangs picked up a tight 25-23 win in the second set.  Unfortunately, the momentum shifted as Elmira took the next two sets to tie the non-conference contest at two sets a piece.
  • Morrisville was able to jump out to a 4-3 lead in the decisive fifth set, but the Golden Eagles rattled off four straight points to take a 7-4 lead and forced a Mustang timeout.
  • Out of the timeout, Morrisville went on their own run.  After siding out, Emily Huppee (Austin Tex.) served the Mustangs back to an 8-7 lead.  The first year player picked up two of her six aces on the match during the run.
  • From there the Mustangs did not look back, winning the fifth set 15-12 to take the 3-2 match victory.
  • Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) led the Mustangs with 18 kills.  Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added 14 to the attack, while Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.) added 11.
  • Defensively, Morrisville had four players notch double digit digs in the five set affair.  Senior libero, Anna Salamino (Liverpool, N.Y.) tallied 27 digs.  Gates and Olson added 17 and 12 digs respectively.  Setter, Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) picked up 14 digs while also orchestrating the offense with 40 assists.
