Harrisburg runs past Morrisville men for 80-65 win

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Penn St. Harrisburg posted a come-from-behind effort in the second to collect an 80-65 North Eastern athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host SUNY Morrisville Saturday in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville held a 36-32 halftime lead over visiting Penn St. Harrisburg Saturday afternoon in Morrisville, but it wasn't enough as the Nittany Lions came clawing back in the second and posted an 80-65 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win to secure the regular season title.
  • Harrisburg's Donyae Baylor-Carroll led all scorers with 31 on the day, hitting seven from beyond the arc, while adding five assists.
  • Dylan Daniels added another 23 for the Lions, snagging 13 boards, while Chris Haynes chipped in 10.
  • Morrisville had three collect double figures, led by senior forward Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) who posted 18 to go along with eight rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.
  • Fellow senior Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) added 14 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots, while Jaylin Montalvo (Hempstead, N.Y.) notched 13 points, adding six boards.
  • Derek Beames (Otego, N.Y.) also posted eight rebounds, assisting two.
  • The Mustangs led by four at the break before Harrisburg chipped away at the deficit before taking the lead for good on a three from Chris Haynes on the right wing.
  • Baylor-Carroll followed with six straight from beyond the arc to open the game to a 14-point visitor lead, netting a total seven three-balls in the second half.
  • Morrisville was able to cut the lead to 10 late in the contest, but Harrisburg proved too strong offensively and collected the win.
  • Prior to the contest, Morrisville honored its senior class and their accomplishments over their careers.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville, who finished second overall in the North Division standings in the NEAC, will meet Cazenovia College in the opening round of the conference tournament on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Morrisville.
