WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The two squads went toe to toe in the first period with the Roos putting 8 shots on goal, while the Mustangs put up 7.
  • Morrisville was granted a five minute stretch in the first of power play time due to a SUNY Canton major penalty.  However, the Roos executed their penalty kill to near perfection, holding the Mustangs to only one shot on goal.
  • The momentum shifted towards the Roos in the second period as Canton picked up their offensive pressure, outshooting the home squad 11-5.
  • Despite the advantage in shots, SUNY Canton was unable to find the back of the net as Owen Liskiewicz (Redbank, N.J.) denied every Roos' opportunity.
  • The Roos persistence eventually paid off in the third period, breaking the scoreless deadlock with a power play goal at the 8:22 mark.
  • SUNY Canton added to their lead just over eight minutes later with a 2 v 1 breakaway strike.
  • The Mustangs were granted one more opportunity to get things going in their favor when the Roos were called for a slashing penalty with 2:15 remaining in the contest.  Morrisville pulled Liskiewicz in favor of another skater, but once again came up empty as SUNY Canton executed their penalty kill to perfection.
