Second quarter sets back Mustangs in loss to Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Morrisville Mustangs women's basketball team suffered a set back in the second quarter and was unable to overcome the deficit built up by host Buffalo State, as they fell 74-58 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Buffalo as they resumed action for the 2020 season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Morrisville women's basketball was out gained 25-11 in the second quarter of Saturday's non-league contest against Buffalo State, and struggled to overcome the deficit built up by the Bengals as they fell 74-58 in Buffalo.
  • Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) led the Mustangs efforts with 19 points, adding four rebounds while fellow teammate Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) added 15.
  • Rockefeller led the Mustangs on the boards with eight rebounds, with newcomer Brooke Hammersley (Weedsport, N.Y.) adding another six to go along with her six points and four steal effort.
  • Shardae Cooper (Rochester, N.Y.) rounded out the leaderboard for the Mustangs with eight points.
  • Morrisville led 21-18 after the opening quarter, but the Bengals offense came alive in the second, out scoring the Mustangs 25-11, to lead 43-32 at the break.
  • Morrisville fought back and outgained the hosts in the final frame, but it wasn't enough as they fell in non-conference play.

  • Morrisville returns to the court Tuesday, hosting Clarkson at 2 p.m.
