#3 Geneseo’s Offense Too Much for Mustangs, fall 6-0

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs held the nationally ranked SUNY Geneseo Knights to 3 goals through two periods, but ultimately dropped the State Universities of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest 6-0 on Friday night due to three unanswered goals in the third.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs held the visiting Knights to a sub-season average of 38 shots.
  • SUNY Geneseo did however pick up their first goal of the contest eight seconds past the five minute mark in the first period.
  • The Knights would strike again at 12:34 to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
  • Geneseo extended their lead to 3-0 at the 3:48 mark in the second.
  • The Mustangs prevented the scoring from going any farther in the second, killing a Knights power play in the middle of the period.  Five minutes later, Morrisville would go on the power play themselves, but Geneseo locked down on defense as well.
  • Down 3-0 heading into the third period, the Mustangs were quickly forced into locking down on defense again, but this time the Knights power play was too much as they took the 4-0 advantage at the 1:11 mark.
  • The Knights would go on to score twice more in the third to take the 6-0 SUNYAC victory.

  • Morrisville will host the Knights in the final game of their season series tomorrow late afternoon at 4 PM.
